Journey to Joplin

Today a team of 18 people from Peine Ridge Church will be heading to Joplin, MO to serve Mystery Church and the hurting people of their city. While our team is there, we hope to do whatever we can to be a blessing.  This may include clearing rubble, serving hot meals, or just listening to and praying for those affected by the tornado.  Why are we doing this? We believe that Christ followers should be at their best when people are experiencing their very worst.  When a crisis strikes, Christians should respond… You may not be going on the trip, but there are 3 things you can do today to help: 1) Give… Joplin doesn’t need our junk.  The city needs money.  The website for Mystery Church is receiving donations for rebuilding their city (see the link above).  You can also give through Peine Ridge Church by clicking here and typing “Joplin” on your donation through Razoo. 2) Pray… When people pray, they often consider it the last resort.  Prayer isn’t option B.  It should be our first response.  You can be equally effective in serving the people of Joplin this week by interceding for our team as they serve the city.  Help meet their need by getting on your knees. 3) Prepare… there are a lot of people serving in the city of Joplin now.  In the coming months, the city will still need help but most of those people will have gone back home.  Start planning now to go on the next trip to Joplin: set aside some money for your expenses, save your vacation days, and let us know that you’d like to go on the next trip by emailing prcpastors@peineridgechurch.org If you’re on twitter, you can stay up to speed on the needs in Joplin by following Mystery Church (@mysterychurch), their relief efforts (@missionjoplin), and their pastor (@SteevInge).  May God bless our partnership with Mystery Church and continue to glorify Himself through the storm…
